Spiritual resources for re-establishing unity, prosperity and obedience in the Christian Science movement

Newer on site

June 2011 -- I have written a second, more extensive letter to the Board of Directors, which can be seen here, together with the Board's response letter, and my reply to it. On 11/26/11, I added two more sets of response and reply which have occurred.

I have come to believe that the following is

The Most Fundamental Question facing our movement today.

Is the Christian Science movement in a state of obedience to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy?
or
Is it in a state of passive acceptance of multiple disobediences to our Leader
persisted in by the administrators of her Church?

My letter referenced above closes referring to "the important truth that if we become aware of or are a party to a wrongness, and do not do what we are able to do to correct it, we are complicit in that wrongness." This truth poses an opportunity and a challenge of great moment to every member, practitioner, teacher, officer, branch, and faithful follower of our Science a nd our Leader. Will we, or won't we, do something to correct disobediences occurring in the administration of our church?

My 2011 letter deals with these questions.

May 2010 -- I have added a citation set on Conscience.

December 2009 -- The Christian Science Board of Directors has been inviting us to consider the majesty of Christian Science. And so I found myself interested to know what our Leader has given us on the subject of majesty. And found some truly lovely and inspiring passages, which in the spirit of sharing, I offer as a Treasure Set of citations on Majesty.

As I have added to the site, a number of citation sets have been included which I have found very helpful in clarifying my understanding. To make them easier to find or get to here's a

Mini-menu of printed out citation sets by subject

.. Conscience .. Majesty .. Mission .. Mistakes .. Sin ..

And I've added an article on Reading in Christian Science Church Services--not yet complete, but worth putting up, I think, until more is added.

November 2009 -- The words prosperity and obedience have been added to the word unity in the title to more accurately depict the content and purpose of the site. These three aspects of the movement are fundamentally interconnected.

An article entitled Idea has been added. I submitted it to the Journal in July 2008, but they informed me "we don't feel that it will work out for publication" and referred me to the Writing Guidelines. I include it here because the thought-evolution described in the article has constituted a sea change in my understanding of Christian Science, and I have a continuing feeling that there may be persons in the movemnent who may find it helpful. If any who read it here perceive any defects in its content please let me know.

I have incorporated a set of citations on mistakes, printed out and with a bit of introduction. These citations carry a considerable cumulative mental impact.

See also the update in the next paragraph below.

December 2007 -- A paper has been added entitled Thoughts on the Purpose and Mission of The Christian Science Monitor. This includes a link to another paper, Thoughts on the Purpose and Mission of the Christian Science Movement which in turn includes a set of citations on the necessity and methods of handling sin. I have added (11/2009) half a dozen significant citations to this set.

August 2007 -- Letters reporting incorrect statements of Christian Science in The Christian Science Journal -- I have written a number of such letters in recent months to the Journal, and because our Leader has indicated that correct statement of Science in the religious periodicals is of the highest importance, I will include some of those letters here. While there has been notification of receipt, there has been practically no response from the editors, nor any indication of agreement or disagreement, nor even acknowledgment of the importance of correct statement in the Journal.

12/09 -- Matt 24:30 "coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory"
                   (added here 9/2011
8/07 -- Capability of the human mind
7/07 -- Tyranny a powerful word?
4/07 -- Global warming
                   Response emails
6/05 -- Does man as idea think?

April 2007 -- Terri Schiavo -- a note was added at the end of the article on The Mission of The Mother Church linking to an analysis of egregious Christian Science Monitor reporting on the Terri Schiavo case in the week before her death by court order in 2005, concluding that Monitor reporting and investigatory methods are grievously faulty. Before posting the analysis to my web pages, I called the Editor of the Monitor to see if he or his staff wished to review this content before I posted it. I was fielded by his assistant, who said he would check with the Editor, but I never heard back.
